As usually when I come back to Sweden. I get sick. So the last week pretty much, I've been spending in bed. Terribly restless. Terribly bored. So bored I've actually been doing two puzzles (1000 pieces each). That will make you understand.
However. Finally start to feel slightly better. Not gym-good yet, which is very annoying since I've been missing the gym for half a year. But at least slow-morning-walk-good.
'
Things about Sweden really annoys me. The lastest is the increase in price of the public transport card (SL-kortet). Already in 2009, Stockholm was the most expensive city in the world regarding public transport. (Our taxes are also amongst the highest in the world). This wont really make the statistics look any better.
'
I know some of my friends think that I am escaping from things just because I like to travel. That is not the case. I'm just fed up with a lot of things in Sweden and I hate snow and cold (which happens to be the conditions in Sweden for half of the year). Why stay here and complain about it (and listen to other people complaining) instead of doing something about it?
AUSSIE CATCH UP
The moment I got back from Paris, I cought up with my old housemate Luke from oz at the T-central in Stockholmo. Happy reunion! Luke and his mate Matt are travelling around the world pretty much and had a quick stop in Sweden. Tried my best to show them all the essential things such as old town, Djurgården, Cosmonova etc. Its hard to be a tourist in Stockholm if you are a student or for some reason is not made of money. Everything costs! Grrr...
Anyway. It was a lot of fun and great to catch up with my favourite housemate again=)
Luke and Matt at Sjöhistoriska Riksmuseet, next to the royal wedding boat
Swedish dinner at my parents place. Snaps, meatballs, lingonberry, potatoes, brown sauce, sill (herring) and bluberry pie!
Sitting on the lions on Queen street is a must!=)
As is "Plattan"
Sthlm summer shot
Buying unpacked candy is Swedish as well. Believe me!
Great time! Just dropped my boys at the ferry terminal so they'll now head towards Helsinki and then Tallin, Riga etc. Might catch up with them somewhere else in Europe cause I'm sitting here, planless and in slight panic.

My two options are:
1. In case I get accepted to Oz, Move to Australia VERY soon
1. In case I get accepted to Oz, Move to Australia VERY soon
2. In case I don't get accepted, ride my bike through Europe
Adventure in either case. Should find out soon!
PARIS IS PICS
So, some picture updates. This is pretty much everything I could fit on my 4 days in Paris, riding a bike through the city. It's Molin Rouge, The Louvre, Mona Lisa, Notre dame, Eifel tower, Modern art museum etc etc. Beautiful city. AND, catching up with three friends made the sray a lot better as well=)

A LITTLE TASTE OF PARIS
Just a little pic from Paris.
Uploaded from Stockholm, which means I'm back in Sweden since a few hours. Just wanted to let you know. Will give youy a proper one tomorrow!
LIVERPOOL
So. Dad and I have survived our Wales trip. We are now sitting in Liverpool waiting for our flights. Mine goes first. A few more hrs and I will land in PARIS! Dad will fly home to Stockholm. Been at John Lennons pub and admired the current Beatles week for a while. Very good.
Anyway. Just wanted to let everybody know that despite our life risking mountain hikes. We are still alive!
'
We have also done a Mr Bean packing of our lugguage, throwing half of it away, squeezing the toothpaste out to a minimum and cut a few pants in order to manage the weight limit. I think we will be fine. Computer will be going to Sweden so the blog will probably be quit for a few days.
Stockholm. Friends and Family.
See ya on Thuesday!
See ya on Thuesday!
MOEL SIABOD
Moel Siabod. Our destination for the day. We were recommended this mountain since we didn't want our challenge to be as great as yestarday. Hmm...
We follewed the route pretty well, until (guess what!?), we met what we in Sweden would call a Welsh old steel lady (Stålkärring) who suggested a few different paths to take to the top of the mountain. We sort of listened half and decided to take a "short cut" since the slope up to the mountain didn't seem very steep. We were sooo wrong...
At one point, we had to do proper mountain climbing on a 90 degree angle slope without any of the gear required what so ever. We were both pretty positive about this and saw no limits. I struggled to get up, with shaking legs and dad threw his napsack up to me. Just under us was a big drop though, which made it much worse for dad to try to get up, since he didn't have any security underneath him. He couldn't get up. I couldn't get down. We were thinking of splitting up and take different routes to the top but I figured my way was far to dangerous plus we would most likely have lost eachother. So I had no other choice than to get back down again...
We were working a bit against time and the rain we had been promised and decided to eat our lunch before reaching the top:
After lunch. We decided that we were too close to the top to give up. So we took a side track to the first path we tried. It was pretty steep as well and when finally reaching the top, we realized it wasn't the top. The top was about to canyons away from us.
Me at the first canyon (promised dad not to dangle with my legs over the edge)
(Picture taken later on the mountain side we hiked/scrambled/climbed up. Pretty much the slope on the right hand side of that mountain).
Anyway. Eventually, we made it to the top and got a stunning view over Snowdon mountain and the rest of the national park. Just amazing. A picture cannot describe it at all...but will give you one anyway...
We have decided to rest our legs tomorrow and not to do any destructive mountain climbs. At the most, we'll do a non hilly strawl around the area of Bets-y-coed or Beddgilert. So don't worry about us. Some people would call us stupid. Dad calls os explorers, haha!
We'll be just fine=)
We'll be just fine=)
SNOWDON MOUNTAIN
Started early today and were meant to do a pretty easy hike. But since it's Wales and since the sun was shining, we decided to hike up Wales's highest Mountain, Snowdon Mt.
Took the Pyg Trail up:
Took us a good 2 hrs to walk up.
We planned to take the Minors Path on the way down but met an awesome Welsh man who lived in a small cottage in the national park, and he suggested we'd go across another mountain. He told us it would take abt 20 min to get there and the way was promised to be quite easy. To start with. It took us abt 1.5 hrs to get there, after sliding down an incredibly steep part of the Snowdon mountain.
We started to walk up the next mountain but had to realize our limitations and return. The only way back was to go up the very steep hill we just walked down. We weren't very happy about that, but didn't really have a choice. At least, it gave us some nice pictures: (and some very good exercise)
Well. That will be it for now. Im tired and need to rest my feet and mind for tomw's hiking adventure! Wherever that will take us...
END OF AN ERA
So yet another childhood dream has been experienced and is now reaching its end. I've had an amazing time at the farm.
I've done the trail 7 times, which means I've been doing around 1200 km and about 200 hrs on the horseback this summer (not including the recidental rides etc).
We've had so many amazing guests and a few horrible once. I'll probably remember them all and look back at even the really bad once with a smile. Remember, everything that doesnt kill you makes a good story. I mean, we did have everything from amazing Japaneese and American guests to desperate housewifes, monster eating Swedes and drunk Germans on the trail.
'
Today was pretty much a deja vu from last Friday's afternoon. It was so windy and raining hard so I felt like I crossed the snowy mountains once again. It was so bad so two of the French girls in the other group started to cry, resulting in us having to cancel the last half an hour of the trail and me having to say good bye to Paddy half an hour earlier and in a rush. Buuuu!
'
Waiting for dinner now. Will go out and cuddle with Piunta as much as I can. Tomw, I'll be taking the bus to Dublin. Spend one night there and then take the ferry towards Snowdonia nationalpark in Wales. Some hiking with dad is on the schedule and a quick visit to Paris before touching Swedish ground again.
LAKE CROSSING
The lake crossing today went on without major problems. We all stayed on the sadle but got soaked anyway in the canter ofcourse. Nicola and Morgen were standing at the shore with my camera so finally I got some pics. Me on Paddy in the front, then a German lady on Guiness, a lovely Japaneese lady on Sarsfield, a French on Toibin and another German on Whiskey. Alone with no back guide this week. Pretty big trust level I must say for a girl without orientation sense, haha! Anyway, enjoy the pics of my last group:
Moi in tha water!
The other group is crossing...
And since my dad asked me what kind of dog I'm planning to stealing when leaving here on Sat, I just wanted to show him my darling Piunta. She is 2 years old and I love her with all my heart. I'm gonna try to convince Nicola that she needs to come home with me=) The other dogs doesn't like her to my advantage, but we'll see...
LAST WEEK
So. Just realized I haven't been writing for a while. Last week was good. We had a few incidents and I had the most annoying American lady in my group. Unfortunately she had a very fast horse as well, which meant she was always riding behind me as I was the leader of the group. And she kept going on about herself, her boyfriend, her ex husbands three ex viwes and their new husbands etc etc etc. I wish I could bring my ipod or earplugs on the trail sometimes. I also wished for myself that her horse would occasionally pretend to be lame so she would get a new, much much slower horse. Nothing of this could happen ofcourse. On Sunday lunch. I never thought the week was going to end. But eventually. It did.
'
The most exciting thing that happened was that a French guy fell off in the lake when crossing it. He was in Johanna's group and it was her first lake crossing. The guy was stupidly riding with his legs in front of the sadle and Guinness (his horse) started to bock and he fell of with a big splash. Luckily, a lady in my group who wasn't riding for the day due to back pain was standing at the shore taking pictures of the crossing so we actually have evidence in form of professional pictures. It will take me a few weeks to get this pictures though but I promise to show you=)
'
Well. Now, a new week just began here and it seems like I will be doing the trail for yet another week. It's gonna be my 7th trail ride and also my last week here. I better enjoy it since the last week was compleetely wet. The first few days, I pretended to like it and explained that without rain, you haven't actually experienced Ireland properly. However, on the last Friday afternoon, while walking up the steep hill for 40 min and then riding next to the Atlantic, with the wind blowing your helmet off, with the rain coming from all directions and with the shoes as wet as the ocean. I couldn't pretend anymore. I felt like I was crossing the snowy mountains without shoes for my only chance of survival. Something I had to do. Gah! We were all so wet and cold. This week better bring the sunshine back!
(TODAY'S NEWS) 100 cannabis plants found near Whitegate
GARDAÍ have described the seizure of €40,000 worth of cannabis plants at a woodland area in Whitegate as “the largest find of growing cannabis in the area”.
The find of 100 plants was made last week at the townland of Ballyhinch, near Cregg Cross and was part of an intelligence-led operation involving gardaí from Scariff and Killaloe. The haul is the second sizeable drug seizure in the county in a week following a €25,000 worth of cannabis resin found at a house in Ennis last Tuesday.
Inspector John O’Sullivan of the Killaloe Garda District said the plants were discovered growing in a wooded area adjacent to a house in Ballyhinch, Whitegate.
“The plants were reaching maturity and there was evidence some of them were partially harvested. They were obviously there for a good while and were being looked after as they need constant watering. It is the largest seizure in our area for some time,” Inspector O’Sullivan noted.
Sergeant Joe Fallon who was co-ordinating the operation with Garda Darren McLoughlin at Scariff Garda Station explained that while there had been seizures of cultivated cannabis in the East Clare area in the past this was “the largest find of actual growing cannabis in the area”.
He explained that in the past, plants had been located but the plants had been harvested and this seizure had “thwarted” the drug being harvested and sold on. The sergeant described the outdoor grow house as a “well-organised, well-hidden and well-concealed” operation, adding that gardaí were now pursuing “an open line of inquiry”.
He explained that they had ruled out certain individuals from the investigation but were anxious to speak with anyone locally who may have noticed suspicious activity in the area or who may be able to help them with their enquiries.
The area where this haul was found is located approximately two miles outside Whitegate on the Portumna side of Cregg Cross.

BUISSNESS SMILE
Gaaahhhh! It's only Wednesday night. Two more days of the horror week left! We are all practicing our buissness smile as much as we possible can manage. Even my horse for the first few days of the week (Hurricane) is practising his:
I don't reallly know how real it looks. We are starting to struggle...
Bring Saturday. Bring new guests. Please!
INES MÒR
Some pictures from our biking trip on Aran Islands...
The ruins of the smallest church in history, only 3.4 * 1.8 meters
Things you get to see when you get lost...
Pretty scary
Indeed....just a few hundred meters up=)
Living on the edge...
Well. Mystical Ireland. There you go! Holidays are over. 3 weeks left at the farm before starting the next adventure.
GIANT'S CAUSEWAY AND ROADTRIP PICS
So. Im back from my little unplanned road trip. Took the ferry from Inez Mór ack to Doolin just in time to miss the days only bus to Lisdoonvarna where Nicola was meant to pick me up. I still would have had a few hrs to kill in Lisdoonvarna though so I decided to walk and really enjoyed the nice weather. Pulling my bag along the main road a first car pulls over already after 5 min walk. Abt 60 year old and stereotypically Irish. He gave me his buissness card because he thought I had a great personality and dropped me at the first cross, after I ensured him 7 times that I could walk the last bit since he was going the other direction anyway. Started to walk along the other road, 5km away from Lisdoonvarna and sort of pretended to speak in my phone since I really enjoyed the walk. Didn't help. Another guy pulled over after just 3 min and took me all the way to Lisdoonvarna. Pro hitchhiker, thats what I am! Got two rides and one number and asked for nothing!
Anyway. Here are some pics from the last week:
Sunset in Sligo
Believe it or not, Ireland do have some nice beaches....although its freezing in the water!
Amazing amazing giant's causeway...I cannot get enough of how fantastic nature can be
My travelling company Arash and myself on the causeway that was shaped during the Paleogene period during intense volcanic activity. AMAZING!
Could upload a lot more pics from this amazing place but you'll have to see FB for more. Internet is too slow...
'
Pictures of Aran island will have to wait until next time I'm online. They are too many and too good. And now it's Friday night, which means movie night. Our new tradition started by moi=)
ROAD TRIPPING
Yes. Road tripping it is. Nothing at all is going according to the plans but its an adventure indeed. Atm in Sligo. Din an overnight trip from here, illegaly camping on a closed camping site, up to the giant's causeway. Pics will come later but im telling you, it was amazing! Nature is fantastic, its as easy as that.
'
Next destination will be Galway and Aran Island. Cross your fingers for sunshine cause me and Arash will bike around the island on Thursday. Im siked!
'
On the way back from Donegal today, we got an impuls to run up a mountain that was sitting just next to the road. We had to cross paddocks with sheep, cows, freezing cold rivers, mud and animal shit and spiky bushes. Nature trail. We tore Arash pants from the top to the bottom and get all bloody legs. But. What doesnt kill you always makes a good story. A few years later!
BAREBACK
Riding bareback on a very fat Nina. That's life yeah!
Half way through my 5th trailride, in the front on Tara. She is nice but not at all like my beloved Paddy. I managed to put my sis on the stables most crazy horse, Dartagnan, I dont know whether she hates me or love me for it!
Yesterday, we had an amazing canter through the lake. We all got completely soaked but the sun dried us up a bit afterwards. Best lake crossing since I got here! I couldn't see anything at all for all the water I had in my eyes. Love it!
'This week's group is very nice. Two swedish girls, two canadian ladies, one swiss and one german. Big girly group, I haven't been laughing so much in a while so Fi was very lucky not to have any complaining people from Jönköping joining the group. All good!
'
On Sat, I will have a week off but Ro just told me she couldn't go road tripping anymore. Grrrr! My plans are sort of completely ruined but I'll figure something out. Im sure I'll manage!
ME AND PADDY
'
I know every week is sort of the same, which makes it quite boring for me to write (and for you to read sometimes). So I rely on my photos. This week (until today) has been beautiful. No rain, only sunshine, hard to believe its Ireland! My guests were all happy, the Swedish once in the other group continued to complain the whole week plus eating a massive amount of food, causing really embarassing moment for everyone in the restaurants. The Swedish lady usually ate her own dessert, the american kids dessert and then asked for one or two more, resulting in us guides never getting desserts. She sucks. I'm glad we get a change of people tomw (including my sis who will do the trail!)
Before that.....some donkey love:
YOU ARE THE LEPRICON!
One of the amrican ladies had an accident the other day while riding Guinness. She somehow fell of in the catner and landed on her head. Appearantly she got quite dizzy and forgot how it all happened etc. Shotly afterwards, our neighbour (Tony, sort of looks like a little elf with a pointy beanie). Tony was holding Guinness when the lady started to slowly wake up again. She looked at Tony and said: "Ohhh, you are the lepricon"
'
I know I shoudn't make jokes about such a bad accident but I just couldn't sto laughing when Inez told me. The american lady went to the hospital but she is all good. She went riding again the next day so all good. I guess I can continue to laugh about the lepricon without feeling too bad=)
PADDY IN PIC
Thought I was gonna give you a face of Paddy. So here he is with flowers in his hair <3:
And oh...can I actually take that thing back about me wanting the swedes in my group. Im SO happy I dont have them. Can people complain more? They should recieve a gold medal in complaining. First, they complain so much about a French lady so she had to change to my group. When she is gone, the start complain about the pony they have for an american girl in their group, that the pony's legs are too short so he is holding them back etc. The swede lady is complaining about her horse too. Too fat, too slow, too wobbly, too boring, too too too of whatever thing a horse could be to much or less of. AND, its not going fast enough, not enough canters. Cause she has been travelling the world and she has been riding before and she she she! God! I think I need a panodoil...
NEW WEEK, NEW TRAIL
Got a busy week at work. Pretty much 3 trails going. I'm the leader for one of them on Paddy ofcourse =) Everyone in my group are sooo young, between 14 and 23 pretty much, from France and Germany. But they all seem very happy with the trail and their horses and I have my favourite horse so I cannot complain.
'
This is actually the first week we have Swedish guests, from Jönköping, unfortunately they are not in my group. They are talking a lot and my quiet group would need that!
'
Anyway. The whole last week was pretty much raining away. All my clothes were always soaking and we were riding horses bareback under an open sky. LOVE IT! Riding bareback in the rain, with attached flowers in the horses bridle is freedom =)
'
Still crossing my fingers for better weather this week. Its not always fun to be on the trail, riding 5 hrs a day no matter weather if you are cold and wet.
