SECOND PLACE IN QUEENSLAND STATE SERIES 2013/2014

Publicerad 2014-02-24 00:08:49 i Allmänt,

Another wonderful weekend of Triathlon, and also the end of the Gatoratde Queensland State series for the season 2013/2014. Racking at 5am and race start ar 8.20am means a lot of waiting around in the morning. Lucky we have a good group to chill out with =)
Much sitting around...
Pretty grey and miserable conditions until our wave started. Was however the most windy conditions I've ever raced in. COuld not be down on my aero bars but had to hold on tight to the drop bars. Having a fairly deep rim on the wheels is not what you want when racing in strong cross wind!
About to hit the water, 50 ladies in my age group for this race.
A club member got a shot of me when sprinting the last 200m to the finish line.
It was the toughest race yet. Because it was a club champ and end of the series, everyone was there. My age group normally has about 30 finishers, today we were 50. Although I ended 5th today, it was probably my best race of the season. Here is the breakdown:
Swim (400m) - 7.47min
Ride (15km) inc T1 and T2 - 31.03min
Run: (4km) - 17.16min
Total: 56.08min
Just to put this in perspective, I have done this race twice before. As a matter of fact, this was the very first triathlon I ever did, exactly one year ago and I finished on 1hr3min. The second time I did it was in October 2013, and although the weather was perfect with no winds then, I finished on 57.48min. = Almost a 2 min PB in worst ever race conditions. Could not be happier!
And like I told you. I wasn't strong enough to maintain the series lead. Bianca well deserved the first place though after an amazing season, it wouldn't have been fair if she didn't win. She is not far behind the elite people so I was very happy with a second place. This podium place includes all Gatorade races over the season, so not only this last race. I never thought I would podium at all but there I am! My tri CV is now officially way better than my academic CV. Maybe I should just leave science and go pro. lol!

BRIBIE WIN

Publicerad 2014-02-18 23:12:32 i Allmänt,

Ops, been a while since updates. Work is very busy so gonna blame that.
Last weekend, I won Bribie supersprint (for the second time!). The competition wasn't great because a lot of people were doing the longer race so there was only 7 girls in my age group. However more exciting was that I placed 8th out of the 131 females from all age groups (and 3 of the girls ahead of me were supersprinting 12 year olds so they hardly count!)
Breakdown:
Swim (300m) - 6.10min (3 of 7)
Cycle (10km) - 19.07min (1 of 7, 4 or 131 out of all F)
Run (km) - 12.12min (1 of 7)
Total: 37.30min (1 of 7)
Crossing the finish line! So happy with my run, been a while since I subed 4.20min per kilometer in a race. Also beat my last Bribie time with 40 seconds, yay!
Collecting my second Bribie tea cup so now I can at least drink tea with company from the winning cups handmade on Bribie Island, lol!

What else has happened since last time?
Well, most importantly, I BOOKED MY TICKET HOME.
Im going to become Swedish fulltime again, starting just before Midsummer. If anyone has a job for me, hook me up =)

Also, Zelda says hi from a superhot down under. Posp play with her friends in the doggie park, lil Zel has got into a habit by which she lies down in the mud under the water fountain, while drinking from the running tap:

Upcoming weekend is the greatest race so far. im currently leading the state series. No doubt I will loose that lead in the coming race but I'm going to work my ass off to maintain second position! Fingers crossed peeps!

ANOTHER SILVERY THING

Publicerad 2014-02-02 08:11:50 i Allmänt,

Caloundra Gatorade, race 6.
It wasn't great in terms of fitness to have man flu the two weeks leading up to the race. My training have consisted of little lazy walks with Zelda, but I still managed to grab another silver medal, despite quite bad race conditions consisting of crosswind on the bike, swim against the tide, overcast and rain. This puts me in the lead for Queensland state tri series in my agegroup, 2 points ahead of the secod girl. It's quite awesome but I there is simply no chance I will win as there is one race left and she will smash it, no doubt. But nice to have a lead for at least a little while, and also proud of my second silver medal:
My splits were:
Swim (400m) - 10.23min (15/32 in my age group)
Cycle (15km) incl T1 and T2 - 28.53min (3/32)
Run (4km) - 18.50 (8/32)
Total: 58.07 (2/32)

I know noone probably cares about my splits other than myself but its good to have them summerized somewhere =)
