I started this blog when I first went on an exchange to Brisbane, Australia. During that experience, I discovered my love for culture, travelling and adventures. This blog has followed me since and been my forum for pictures and stories from Tanzania, South Africa, Ireland, Fiji, Malaysia, Singapore, Europe etc.

Some pictures from our biking trip on Aran Islands...
The ruins of the smallest church in history, only 3.4 * 1.8 meters
Things you get to see when you get lost...
Pretty scary
Indeed....just a few hundred meters up=)
Living on the edge...
Well. Mystical Ireland. There you go! Holidays are over. 3 weeks left at the farm before starting the next adventure.

GIANT'S CAUSEWAY AND ROADTRIP PICS

Publicerad 2011-07-29 22:24:33 i Allmänt,

So. Im back from my little unplanned road trip. Took the ferry from Inez Mór ack to Doolin just in time to miss the days only bus to Lisdoonvarna where Nicola was meant to pick me up. I still would have had a few hrs to kill in Lisdoonvarna though so I decided to walk and really enjoyed the nice weather. Pulling my bag along the main road a first car pulls over already after 5 min walk. Abt 60 year old and stereotypically Irish. He gave me his buissness card because he thought I had a great personality and dropped me at the first cross, after I ensured him 7 times that I could walk the last bit since he was going the other direction anyway. Started to walk along the other road, 5km away from Lisdoonvarna and sort of pretended to speak in my phone since I really enjoyed the walk. Didn't help. Another guy pulled over after just 3 min and took me all the way to Lisdoonvarna. Pro hitchhiker, thats what I am! Got two rides and one number and asked for nothing!
Anyway. Here are some pics from the last week:
Sunset in Sligo
Believe it or not, Ireland do have some nice beaches....although its freezing in the water!
Amazing amazing giant's causeway...I cannot get enough of how fantastic nature can be
My travelling company Arash and myself on the causeway that was shaped during the Paleogene period during intense volcanic activity. AMAZING!
Could upload a lot more pics from this amazing place but you'll have to see FB for more. Internet is too slow...
'
Pictures of Aran island will have to wait until next time I'm online. They are too many and too good. And now it's Friday night, which means movie night. Our new tradition started by moi=)

ROAD TRIPPING

Publicerad 2011-07-26 23:43:24 i Allmänt,

Yes. Road tripping it is. Nothing at all is going according to the plans but its an adventure indeed. Atm in Sligo. Din an overnight trip from here, illegaly camping on a closed camping site, up to the giant's causeway. Pics will come later but im telling you, it was amazing! Nature is fantastic, its as easy as that.
'
Next destination will be Galway and Aran Island. Cross your fingers for sunshine cause me and Arash will bike around the island on Thursday. Im siked!
'
On the way back from Donegal today, we got an impuls to run up a mountain that was sitting just next to the road. We had to cross paddocks with sheep, cows, freezing cold rivers, mud and animal shit and spiky bushes. Nature trail. We tore Arash pants from the top to the bottom and get all bloody legs. But. What doesnt kill you always makes a good story. A few years later!

BAREBACK

Publicerad 2011-07-20 22:19:15 i Allmänt,

Riding bareback on a very fat Nina. That's life yeah!
Half way through my 5th trailride, in the front on Tara. She is nice but not at all like my beloved Paddy. I managed to put my sis on the stables most crazy horse, Dartagnan, I dont know whether she hates me or love me for it!
Yesterday, we had an amazing canter through the lake. We all got completely soaked but the sun dried us up a bit afterwards. Best lake crossing since I got here! I couldn't see anything at all for all the water I had in my eyes. Love it!
'
This week's group is very nice. Two swedish girls, two canadian ladies, one swiss and one german. Big girly group, I haven't been laughing so much in a while so Fi was very lucky not to have any complaining people from Jönköping joining the group. All good!
'
On Sat, I will have a week off but Ro just told me she couldn't go road tripping anymore. Grrrr! My plans are sort of completely ruined but I'll figure something out. Im sure I'll manage!

ME AND PADDY

Publicerad 2011-07-15 21:06:54 i Allmänt,

I know every week is sort of the same, which makes it quite boring for me to write (and for you to read sometimes). So I rely on my photos. This week (until today) has been beautiful. No rain, only sunshine, hard to believe its Ireland! My guests were all happy, the Swedish once in the other group continued to complain the whole week plus eating a massive amount of food, causing really embarassing moment for everyone in the restaurants. The Swedish lady usually ate her own dessert, the american kids dessert and then asked for one or two more, resulting in us guides never getting desserts. She sucks. I'm glad we get a change of people tomw (including my sis who will do the trail!)
Before that.....some donkey love:

YOU ARE THE LEPRICON!

Publicerad 2011-07-11 22:47:23 i Allmänt,

One of the amrican ladies had an accident the other day while riding Guinness. She somehow fell of in the catner and landed on her head. Appearantly she got quite dizzy and forgot how it all happened etc. Shotly afterwards, our neighbour (Tony, sort of looks like a little elf with a pointy beanie). Tony was holding Guinness when the lady started to slowly wake up again. She looked at Tony and said: "Ohhh, you are the lepricon"
'
I know I shoudn't make jokes about such a bad accident but I just couldn't sto laughing when Inez told me. The american lady went to the hospital but she is all good. She went riding again the next day so all good. I guess I can continue to laugh about the lepricon without feeling too bad=)

PADDY IN PIC

Publicerad 2011-07-11 20:43:24 i Allmänt,

Thought I was gonna give you a face of Paddy. So here he is with flowers in his hair <3:
And oh...can I actually take that thing back about me wanting the swedes in my group. Im SO happy I dont have them. Can people complain more? They should recieve a gold medal in complaining. First, they complain so much about a French lady so she had to change to my group. When she is gone, the start complain about the pony they have for an american girl in their group, that the pony's legs are too short so he is holding them back etc. The swede lady is complaining about her horse too. Too fat, too slow, too wobbly, too boring, too too too of whatever thing a horse could be to much or less of. AND, its not going fast enough, not enough canters. Cause she has been travelling the world and she has been riding before and she she she! God! I think I need a panodoil...

NEW WEEK, NEW TRAIL

Publicerad 2011-07-10 20:41:56 i Allmänt,

Got a busy week at work. Pretty much 3 trails going. I'm the leader for one of them on Paddy ofcourse =) Everyone in my group are sooo young, between 14 and 23 pretty much, from France and Germany. But they all seem very happy with the trail and their horses and I have my favourite horse so I cannot complain.
'
This is actually the first week we have Swedish guests, from Jönköping, unfortunately they are not in my group. They are talking a lot and my quiet group would need that!
'
Anyway. The whole last week was pretty much raining away. All my clothes were always soaking and we were riding horses bareback under an open sky. LOVE IT! Riding bareback in the rain, with attached flowers in the horses bridle is freedom =)
'
Still crossing my fingers for better weather this week. Its not always fun to be on the trail, riding 5 hrs a day no matter weather if you are cold and wet.

A RAINY DAY

Publicerad 2011-07-07 21:27:24 i Allmänt,

It's been raining heavily the last two days. So much that the trail has been cancelled in the afternoon and my residental riders have choosen not to ride as much either. Understandable. We usually get happy as well when the guests choose not to ride in heavy rain. So happy we were yday. Until Bertie told us to move all the faols to new fields. It took 1.5 hrs leading them uphill on a slippy road to their new home. I have tried 5 different pair of raining pants from the box with clothes to borrow. None of them are water proof. Grrr...
An uncommon day of sunshine over An sibin (which means illegal drinking place in irish).
'
AND. I can almost not forgive myself for not presenting an sibins three stars until now. But here they are!
Baby Cherkin, always with something in her mouth
Superfat yellow labrador Misty who always wants to be cuddled with
And, the brightest star of them all, Piunta! I'm planning on bringing this precious dog home. She'll easily fit in my suitcase. This bird wished she had wings. But if she did. We wouldnt have any birds on the farm.
Awwwww Piunta! (Irish word for pint). I guess she figured sleeping on a big bag och saw dust would bring her a bit closer to the sky. Lovely dog!

A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING

Publicerad 2011-07-04 20:18:01 i Allmänt,

Just uploading a few pics from the last weeks.
Picture of the property (and half Pjunta)
The horses on the summer field
The first group I had as the front guide.
Me an Aoife are trying to jump the dogs, fat Misty is obiously cheating...
The Park Hotel, 5 star hotel with wonderful view. Amelia, one of the new girls is just on her way out.
'
This week, Im not on the trail. For once. Still heavy work, but less paid. Prefer being on the trail. I am guiding two very nice tjeck people on the smallest horse in the stable (Hurricane). He makes me feel like a giant but is very cute and extremely fast. Like. A Hurricane! All the guests are very nice this week, although the once on the trail thinks its too much riding and the once on the residentals think its too little. Always something. We practice our buissness smile every night in front of the mirror though so we'll work something out most of the times =)

SURPRISE!

Publicerad 2011-07-01 20:59:49 i Allmänt,

Got an amazing surprise this week. See who came to visit me on a very spontaneous trip to the green land.
Auntie Gitta and Janne! Gitta will hate me for uploading this pic, but......but........I had to =)
Had my fist real irish coffee with them on the very local pub. Very very nice!
Its now Friday night, which means that I have (again) succesfully been leading my group of people to the final destination just next to the Atlantic. Withouht getting lost. Again! And this time I didn't even have a back guide who knew the ways. Im very proud of myself. Noone fell in the lake on Tuesday either although I had no clue what I was doing and where I was going to avoid the deep river in it. Haha! (Thanks Paddy). Had Paddy again all week long except Monday morning when I had little Hurricane who makes me look like a giant.
My non english speaking group seemed pretty happy with their week. No complaints and good weather. So. All good. We'll see who will lead the trail next week.
